Hospitality

Great shooting is only part of the day — good food, good company and warm hospitality complete the experience.

Hospitality is an important part of the day at David Morris Sporting, and we pride ourselves on making sure our guests are well looked after from start to finish. Catering for our shoot days is provided by Steve, whose excellent cooking has become a firm favourite with our guns. From hearty shoot lunches to relaxed dining after the day’s sport, there are a number of options available depending on the style of day you would like to create.

Teams may choose to dine at Hopton Court, our purpose-built gun room at Heath Hills, enjoy refreshments served in the field, or begin and end the day at the nearby Hopton Crown. Dining at Hopton Court includes a venue hire charge, while the other options are priced simply according to the catering required.

Hopton Court

For a more formal and traditional experience, teams may dine at Hopton Court, a beautiful country house set within the estate. Guests can enjoy drinks in the drawing room before sitting down to lunch in the elegant dining room, while larger parties may be accommodated in The Coach House. It provides a wonderful setting to relax, share stories from the morning’s shooting and enjoy one of Steve’s excellent meals.

Gun Room

Our purpose-built gun room at Heath Hills offers a relaxed and practical setting in the heart of the shoot. It is a popular choice for many teams, providing a warm and welcoming place to gather for breakfast, lunch or refreshments during the day. Steve prepares and serves generous homemade food here, with favourites such as his excellent sirloin of beef, which receives regular praise from visiting guns.

Dining in the Field

For teams who prefer to keep the day moving, catering can also be served out in the field between drives. This option allows guests to enjoy good food and refreshments while making the most of the countryside setting, adding to the relaxed and sociable atmosphere that many guns enjoy on our shoot days.

The Hopton Crown

Many of our guests choose to start or finish their day at the Hopton Crown, a well-known local shooting pub situated just a short distance from the estate. Teams often meet there for breakfast before the day begins and return afterwards for drinks by the fire. It is a favourite gathering place for guns, beaters and the shoot team alike, and provides a lively and welcoming end to a day in the field.
