Shooting Packages

Every shoot day at David Morris Sporting is organised to suit the preferences of the team, but the following examples give a flavour of how a typical day might run.

Classic 200 Bird Day – 8 Guns

A classic driven day for a team of eight guns begins with the group meeting at our purpose-built gun room at Heath Hills for a relaxed start to the morning.

Guests are welcomed with bacon and sausage sandwiches made using produce from our excellent local butcher and served on fresh rolls from Ashley’s Bakery in Cleobury Mortimer, along with coffee and tea while the shoot captain talks through the plan for the day.

Once everyone is ready, the team heads out for the morning’s sport, typically shooting three drives across the estate’s varied countryside of woodland, valleys and parkland.

After the morning’s shooting, guns return to the gun room to enjoy a hearty shoot lunch prepared by our caterer Steve, offering a chance to warm up, share stories from the morning and relax before the afternoon’s sport.

Following lunch, the team heads back out for one final drive before returning to the gun room to unload guns and reflect on the day’s shooting.

Many teams then continue the tradition by heading to the nearby Hopton Crown, a well-known local shooting pub, to enjoy drinks together and round off a memorable day in the field.

Estate 300 Bird Day – 8 Guns

For those looking for a more traditional estate shoot experience, a 300 bird day for a team of eight guns offers a memorable day combining sporting birds with excellent hospitality.

The day begins at Hopton Court, where guns are welcomed with breakfast before heading out to the first drive. From there the team moves through the morning’s sport, typically shooting three drives across the estate’s varied ground, presenting challenging pheasants and partridges over woodland, valleys and parkland.

Between drives, refreshments and snacks are served in the field, allowing guns to relax and enjoy the countryside while the shoot moves on to the next drive.

After the morning’s sport there is one final drive, bringing the shooting to a close before the team returns to Hopton Court to round off the day in style.

Drinks are first served in the drawing room, providing a chance to relax and reflect on the day’s shooting before sitting down to enjoy dinner together in the dining room at the Court.

Full Simulated Game Day -5 Drives (14 -22 guns)

As an example a full simulated game day for 16 guns and up to 6 social guests begins with guests meeting at the gun room at Heath Hills at around 10am. The day starts with bacon sandwiches served on fresh rolls, along with tea and coffee while everyone gathers and prepares for the morning’s shooting.

The team then heads out to the first drives of the day, typically shooting three simulated drives across the estate, with refreshments served between drives.

After the morning’s sport, guests return to the gun room terrace for a relaxed barbecue lunch, providing a chance to sit down, enjoy good food and share stories from the morning.

In the afternoon the team heads back out to shoot two further simulated drives, rounding off a full and enjoyable day’s shooting in the Shropshire countryside.

Afternoon Simulated Game Day – 3 Drives (14-22 Guns)

An afternoon simulated game day is ideal for those who don't want quite as much 'banging', but still providing plenty of shooting while keeping the day relaxed and sociable.

Guests meet at the gun room at midday, where sandwiches and refreshments are served before heading out for the shooting. The group then enjoys three simulated drives, offering plenty of clays and a fun, fast-paced shooting experience.

After the shooting has finished, everyone returns to the gun room terrace for a barbecue, before many teams choose to continue the day by heading to the nearby Hopton Crown to enjoy drinks together and round off the afternoon.

Individual Guns

While most of our shoot days are booked by established teams, we do occasionally have spaces available for individual guns or smaller groups wishing to join an existing team.

These opportunities arise from time to time throughout the season and can be a wonderful way for visiting guns to experience a day’s shooting at Hopton Court Estate, meet other like-minded sportsmen and enjoy the atmosphere of the shoot.

If you would like to be notified when individual spaces become available, please contact us and we will be happy to add you to our mailing list so that we can let you know about upcoming opportunities.
